Privacy, Intellectual Property & Disclosure Policy

1. About This Policy
This Privacy, Intellectual Property & Disclosure Policy (“Policy”) has been prepared by Param Hansa Philanthropies (“PHP,” “we,” “our,” or “the Organization”) to provide complete transparency regarding:
- the nature of the content displayed on PHP’s digital properties;
- PHP’s relationship to third-party websites, partner organizations, and external content;
- the intellectual property rights of all content referenced, displayed, or linked;
- PHP’s explicit non-ownership declarations with respect to third-party materials;
- visitor data practices and privacy protections; and
- PHP’s subscription and data collection policies.
This Policy applies to the websites at paramhansa.life, and any successor or affiliated digital properties operated by PHP (collectively, the “Sites”). PHP is incorporated as a philanthropic organization with offices in Tampa, Florida, USA and Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. Queries regarding this Policy may be directed to social@phvalues.org.
2. Non-Ownership of Third-Party Content: Full Disclaimer
2.1 Third-Party Content Referenced on Our Sites
The Sites contain references to, links to, and descriptions of content, research, publications, logos, images, datasets, academic materials, press releases, news articles, and other material that originate from third-party sources, including but not limited to: partner institutions, academic bodies, research foundations, media outlets, governmental agencies, and non-governmental organizations.
PHP expressly declares and affirms that:
- PHP does not own, and does not claim to own, any third-party content referenced, hyperlinked, displayed, or summarized on the Sites.
- All intellectual property rights in third-party content remain exclusively with the original owners, authors, publishers, or rights-holders of such content.
- The appearance of any third-party content on PHP’s Sites does not constitute or imply any claim of ownership, affiliation, endorsement, or sponsorship by PHP, unless explicitly and formally stated otherwise.
- PHP’s display or reference to third-party content is purely for informational, educational, and philanthropic outreach purposes.
2.2 Partner and Collaborator Content
PHP works with a range of partner institutions and collaborating organizations, including (without limitation) IISc Bengaluru, The Harker School, Heart to Heart Foundation, OSAAT, Stanford University, Aspire Institute, Foundation for Excellence and the University of Texas at Austin. References to these partners, including use of their names, logos, or programmatic descriptions, are made with acknowledgment that:
- All trademarks, logos, trade names, and service marks of partner organizations are the exclusive property of those respective organizations.
- PHP does not hold any license, assignment, or transfer of intellectual property rights from partner organizations unless separately documented in a formal written agreement.
- The mention of a partner’s name or institution on the Sites does not imply that the partner endorses PHP’s views, positions, or activities beyond what is formally agreed upon.
2.3 Event-Related Content
Content associated with PHP-organized or co-organized events, such as the QxB.io conference series, may include abstracts, speaker profiles, presentation materials, session recordings, and research summaries contributed by external participants. With respect to such content:
- All submitted abstracts, papers, presentations, and associated intellectual content remain the property of the respective contributors and/or their affiliated institutions, unless a separate written agreement expressly provides otherwise.
- PHP does not assert ownership over any research findings, inventions, datasets, or creative works presented at or in connection with PHP events.
- Reproduction or redistribution of event-related materials originating from third parties requires the express prior written consent of the respective intellectual property owner.
3. Intellectual Property Rights
3.1 PHP’s Own Intellectual Property
PHP does assert ownership over certain original content that is solely created by PHP, including:
- The PHP name, logo, and brand identity (“Param Hansa Philanthropies”, the stylized logo appearing on the Sites, and associated brand materials);
- Original written content, narratives, mission statements, and editorial copy authored by PHP staff and published under PHP’s name;
- The organizational design, layout, and structure of the Sites, where such design constitutes original creative work; and
- PHP-authored reports, grant summaries, and impact documentation that are produced solely by PHP personnel without incorporating third-party copyrighted materials.
All other materials, including third-party logos, academic publications, partner institution content, event submissions, news articles, datasets, and scientific resources remain the intellectual property of their respective owners.
3.2 Trademarks
The name “Param Hansa Philanthropies,” the PHP logo, and any slogans or taglines used exclusively in PHP’s brand communications are protected marks. Third-party trademarks appearing on the Sites are the property of their respective owners and appear for identification purposes only.
3.3 Copyrights in Referenced Academic and Scientific Material
The Sites may reference, describe, or link to peer-reviewed publications, preprints, technical papers, and scientific datasets. Such materials are typically protected by copyright held by publishers, academic institutions, or individual researchers. PHP:
- Does not reproduce or republish the substantive content of copyrighted academic or scientific works without authorization;
- Provides references, citations, or links to original sources purely for educational and informational purposes;
- Does not derive any commercial or financial benefit from the referenced materials; and
- Encourages visitors to access original materials directly through the relevant publishers, repositories, or rights-holders.
3.4 Images, Media, and Visual Assets
Images, photographs, infographics, and other visual media appearing on the Sites originate from multiple sources. PHP endeavors to use only:
- Images created by or for PHP;
- Images licensed under an appropriate open, Creative Commons, or commercial license;
- Images provided by partner organizations for the purpose of joint communications; or
- Images sourced from royalty-free platforms where permitted for organizational use.
If you believe that any image on the Sites infringes a copyright or moral right in which you hold an interest, please contact PHP immediately at social@phvalues.org with subject line “Copyright Inquiry” and PHP will investigate and take appropriate action.
3.5 Open Source and Shared Resources
Certain educational resources, toolkits, and knowledge materials linked from the Sites may be published under open-source, Creative Commons, or other permissive licenses. PHP acknowledges the terms of such licenses and does not represent such materials as its own proprietary content.
4. Third-Party Websites, Links, and Embedded Resources
4.1 Nature of External Links
The Sites contain hyperlinks to external websites operated by third parties, including partner institutions, research databases, event platforms, news sources, and academic repositories. The inclusion of a hyperlink does not constitute a warranty, endorsement, approval, or recommendation by PHP of the linked website or any of its content, products, or services.
4.2 PHP Has No Control Over External Sites
PHP exercises no editorial control, oversight, or ownership over the content, privacy practices, data policies, security measures, or business practices of any third-party website to which the Sites link. Visitors who follow external links do so at their own discretion and risk. PHP strongly encourages visitors to review the privacy policies and terms of use of any external sites they visit.
4.3 Referenced Partner Websites
PHP’s Sites reference and link to the digital properties of its partner organizations. This is done strictly to facilitate awareness, collaboration, and resource access. Such references:
- Do not constitute or imply any joint venture, partnership, or agency relationship between PHP and the linked organization beyond any formally documented arrangement;
- Do not transfer any intellectual property rights between PHP and the linked organization; and
- May be updated, removed, or revised at any time at PHP’s discretion without prior notice.
4.4 Embedded Content
The Sites may embed third-party content such as videos, social media posts, slideshows, or maps. Such embedded content remains the property of the originating platform or content creator. PHP assumes no ownership and accepts no liability for embedded third-party content. The originating platforms’ terms of service and privacy policies govern the embedded content and its associated data practices.
5. No Subscription Model and Data Collection Policy
5.1 PHP Does Not Operate a Subscription Service
Param Hansa Philanthropies does not maintain, operate, or offer any subscription-based content model on the Sites. Specifically:
- PHP does not charge any fees for accessing information, resources, or educational materials available on the Sites.
- PHP does not invite, solicit, or accept subscriptions for the delivery of newsletters, premium content, or any recurring digital service.
- PHP does not maintain or offer paid membership tiers or access-restricted content areas (other than administrative or volunteer portal access that may be established for operational purposes).
5.2 Visitor Engagement and Contact
Visitors who engage with the Sites through the “Get Involved” page or by submitting inquiries via email are voluntarily sharing contact information for the purpose of:
- Event registration (e.g., registration for QxB.io 2026 or future PHP events);
- Abstract submission for conferences;
- Expressing interest in partnerships or collaborations; and
- Requesting information about PHP’s programs and initiatives.
PHP does not use contact information submitted through the Sites for any purpose beyond the scope described at the time of collection. PHP does not sell, rent, or transfer personal contact information to any third-party commercial entity.
6. Privacy Policy
6.1 Information PHP May Collect
PHP may collect the following categories of information when visitors interact with the Sites:
- Contact information voluntarily submitted (name, email address, institutional affiliation, and similar details) through inquiry forms or event registration pages;
- Technical information automatically collected through web servers and analytics tools, such as IP address (in anonymized or non-identifiable form), browser type, pages visited, time spent on pages, and referring website;
- Correspondence sent to PHP via the contact email address social@phvalues.org; and
- Event-related information such as abstract submissions, attendee registrations, and speaker profiles submitted in connection with PHP events.
6.2 How PHP Uses Collected Information
Information collected by PHP is used exclusively to:
- Respond to inquiries and facilitate requested communications;
- Process event registrations and abstract submissions;
- Improve the design, functionality, and content of the Sites;
- Understand aggregate visitor trends using non-personally-identifiable analytics; and
- Maintain records required for the governance and operational compliance of a philanthropic organization.
6.3 Non-Commercial Use of Visitor Data
PHP is a philanthropic, non-commercial organization. PHP does not:
- Sell, license, or trade visitor data or contact information to advertisers or commercial third parties;
- Use visitor data for targeted advertising or commercial marketing campaigns;
- Profile visitors for commercial or behavioral analytics purposes; or
- Share personally identifiable information with any third party without the explicit consent of the individual, except as may be required by applicable law.
6.4 Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Sites may use cookies or similar browser-based technologies for functional purposes (such as maintaining session state during event registration) and for aggregate, anonymized analytics. PHP does not use cookies for targeted advertising, user profiling, or commercial tracking. Visitors may adjust their browser settings to refuse cookies; however, doing so may affect the functionality of certain Site features.
6.5 Data Retention
PHP retains personal information only for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, or as required by applicable legal or regulatory obligations. Contact information collected in connection with PHP events may be retained for the duration of those events and a reasonable period thereafter for follow-up communications.
6.6 Security
PHP employs reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information submitted to or collected by the Sites from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of electronic transmission or data storage is entirely secure, and PHP cannot guarantee absolute security.
6.7 Rights of Individuals
Individuals whose personal information is held by PHP may request:
- Confirmation of whether PHP holds their personal information;
- Access to their personal information;
- Correction of inaccurate personal information;
- Deletion of personal information (subject to PHP’s legal retention obligations); and
- Cessation of use of personal information for any specific purpose.
Requests should be submitted to social@phvalues.org with the subject line “Privacy Request.” PHP will acknowledge and respond to such requests within a reasonable time.
6.8 Children’s Privacy
PHP’s programs include outreach to K-12 students and aspiring young scientists. PHP does not knowingly collect personal information directly from individuals under 13 years of age without verifiable parental or guardian consent. Event registrations for youth programs require participation facilitated by a parent, guardian, or authorized school representative.
6.9 International Visitors
PHP’s Sites are accessible globally. Visitors outside the United States, including those in India and other jurisdictions, should note that their information may be processed and stored in the United States. By using the Sites, visitors consent to the transfer of their information to and processing in the United States in accordance with this Policy, subject to applicable legal protections.
7. Copyright Complaints and DMCA Compliance
If you are a rights-holder and believe that content on the Sites infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, please provide PHP with a written notice containing:
- Identification of the copyrighted work or intellectual property claimed to be infringed;
- Identification of the material on the Sites that you claim is infringing, with sufficient detail for PHP to locate it;
- Your contact information (name, address, telephone number, and email address);
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the rights-holder, its agent, or the law; and
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or are authorized to act on behalf of the owner.
Notices should be submitted to social@phvalues.org with the subject line “DMCA / IP Complaint.” PHP will review and respond to compliant notices in accordance with applicable law.
8. Accuracy of Information and Limitation of Liability
PHP endeavors to ensure that all information published on the Sites is accurate, current, and properly attributed. However:
- PHP makes no warranty, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for purpose of any information on the Sites.
- Information on the Sites is provided for general informational and educational purposes and does not constitute professional, legal, medical, financial, or research advice.
- PHP shall not be liable for any loss, harm, or damage arising from reliance on information published on the Sites or from the use of, or inability to access, the Sites.
- PHP shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from a visitor’s reliance on or use of any third-party website or content linked from the Sites.
9. Updates and Amendments to This Policy
PHP reserves the right to update, revise, or amend this Policy at any time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the Effective Date at the top of this Policy. Continued use of the Sites following publication of a revised Policy constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. PHP encourages visitors to review this Policy periodically.
10. Governing Law
This Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida, United States of America, without regard to its conflict of law principles. To the extent applicable, PHP’s India-based operations are subject to the applicable provisions of Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
